There is no difference in design from the previous work, the price is the same

Enhanced camera functions such as cinematic mode

Korea will be released on the 8th of next month with 4 models

US media “poorest upgrade ever

I didn't see the innovation I was hoping for. Instead, I focused on the camera. Apple opened a new product release event online at its headquarters in California on the 14th (local time) and released the new iPhone 13 series.

The new iPhone series, like the previous "iPhone 12" series, consists of four types: a basic model with a 6.1-inch screen, a 5.4-inch mini, and premium products 6.1-inch Pro and 6.7-inch Promax. Externally, the design is largely unchanged from its predecessor. The screen is slightly wider, the front-facing camera used for things like facial recognition is 20% smaller, and the black notch that hid the middle of the top of the screen is smaller.

The application processor (AP), which is the brain of the smartphone, has improved processing speed and power efficiency by incorporating the independently developed 'A15 Bionic'. Compared to the previous work, the battery usage time has increased by 1 hour and 30 minutes for the mini and pro, and by 2 hours and 30 minutes for the basic model and promax.

Apple has introduced “Cinematic Mode (Photo)” for video recording on the iPhone 13 series. It is a shooting technique that focuses on a specific person or thing in one screen and blurs the background to make it look like a movie. If the person in focus moves, it will automatically follow, and you can also automatically shift the focus to another person on the screen. You can also apply the cinematic mode while watching the video during or after shooting.
In the previous work, the sensor shift optical image blur correction installed only in the top model Promax was expanded to other models in iPhone13. Pro models, such as the Pro and ProMax, include a variable scan rate feature that varies the screen frames per second from 10 Hz to 120 Hz. You can save battery by lowering the scan rate from normal. It is now possible to take super close-up shots of 2 centimeters, which had to be taken with a special camera for professional models. Also, all three lenses have a night mode.
The satellite communication function that attracted interest was not installed in the iPhone 13.

The iPhone 13 series will start pre-ordering on the 17th in the first release countries such as the United States, Japan, and China, and will be officially released on the 24th. It will be released in South Korea on the 8th of next month.

Apple has kept the price of the iPhone 13 series at the same level as its predecessor. The domestic starting price for the iPhone 13 is 1.09 million won for the basic iPhone 13, 950,000 won for the mini, 1.35 million won for the pro, and 1.49 million won for the promax. This time, the minimum storage capacity has been doubled, starting with 128GB, and 1TB has been newly added to the Pro model. It is unusual for Apple to keep the prices of new products unchanged.

There is an analysis in the industry that Samsung Electronics was conscious of the popularity of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3, which were released last month.

There are five colors for the iPhone 13 basic type and mini: pink, blue, midnight, starlight, and product red. There are four Pro models: Graphite, Gold, Silver, and Sierra Blue. The purple color, which was removed when the iPhone 12 was released and was released separately six months later, was not included this time either.

In the US media, there was a reaction that the iPhone 13 was somewhat disappointed because there was no major technical improvement. The New York Times assessed that it "had a slightly larger screen, faster speeds, and a better camera, but no major advances." Bloomberg published a column on the same day that said, "It may be the weakest upgrade in iPhone history," and that "iPhone owners have little incentive to replace their phones."
Samsung Electronics' US corporation also publicly shot the iPhone 13 on Twitter. “Are we the only people who feel déjà vu?” He pointed out that the iPhone 13 is not much different from the previous model, and raised his own foldable phone, saying, “Wouldn’t it be nice if it was folded in half?”
